Above Ground Pools
Better Than Ever(Excerpt of article written by Nina Giordana in the July 2005 issue of Pool & Spa Living Magazine)
If you opened a time capsule sealed a decade ago containing an aboveground pool, you would be surprised at how much they have changed in that short amount of time.
Besides being better looking, today’s aboveground pools are more durable and easier to install than ever.
Overall, the aboveground pool category has come through a transformation, and the evolution continues. Our experts share the details that make aboveground pools the choice for increasing number of consumers every year.
What are the predominant types of aboveground pools available today?
Our experts agree that galvanized steel-sided, aluminum-sided and soft-sided pools are the primary types of aboveground pools manufactured today.
Johnny Mazza, III, purchasing manager for Medallion Swim Pool, Company, Inc., says steel-sided pools have a one-piece rollout section.
“The two ends connect to form the pool’s frame,” he explains.
“Aluminum-sided pools have panels that bolt together. This type of pool can be installed completely above the ground, entirely below the ground or partially above and below- which is often the choice of homeowners who want a pool with graduated depth.”
